Glicerina Vegetale

Classico umettante di origine vegetale con una delle più lunghe e solide storie d'uso in cosmetica.

La glicerina è uno degli ingredienti più ampiamente utilizzati nelle formulazioni cosmetiche grazie alla sua eccellente capacità di attirare e trattenere l'acqua nella pelle. Insieme all'urea, è un componente chiave del Fattore Naturale di Idratazione cutaneo (NMF) e contribuisce direttamente a mantenere un aspetto morbido, levigato e ben idratato.

La Glicerina Ellemental è una glicerina di origine vegetale ad elevata purezza, ottenuta attraverso la raffinazione di un sottoprodotto della lavorazione degli oli vegetali. È un ingrediente versatile utilizzato sia come umettante nei prodotti per la cura del viso, del corpo e dei capelli, sia come solvente o agente testurizzante in svariati tipi di formulazioni.

  • Dosaggio Consigliato: 3 - 20%, a seconda del tipo di formulazione e dell'effetto desiderato

Studi Scientifici e Documentazione

Il ruolo della glicerina come umettante è ampiamente documentato nella letteratura dermocosmetica. Studi di riferimento nel settore, come quelli pubblicati da Fluhr, Darlenski e Surber (2008), dimostrano che la glicerina agisce sia sulla superficie della pelle sia in profondità nello strato corneo, dove sostiene l'idratazione, riduce la perdita di acqua transepidermica (TEWL) e aiuta a mantenere l'integrità della barriera cutanea. Le stesse fonti indicano che la glicerina favorisce la normale maturazione delle cellule cutanee, un meccanismo che spiega perché sia così ben tollerata anche a concentrazioni più elevate rispetto ad altri umettanti.

Guida alla Formulazione

  • Basse concentrazioni (3 - 5%): effetto idratante generale senza sensazione appiccicosa sulla pelle, adatto per la maggior parte dei prodotti di uso quotidiano
  • Medie concentrazioni (5 - 10%): effetto umettante più marcato, frequentemente utilizzato in creme idratanti, gel e lozioni
  • Alte concentrazioni (superiori al 10%): utilizzato in prodotti dedicati alle pelli molto secche; a questi livelli, potrebbe verificarsi una sensazione di appiccicosità sulla pelle, specialmente in ambienti a bassa umidità
  • Si miscela facilmente nella fase acquosa della formulazione, sia a freddo sia a caldo
  • Igroscopica per natura, motivo per cui il recipiente deve essere ermeticamente chiuso tra un uso e l'altro
  • Compatibile con la maggior parte dei conservanti, attivi e testurizzanti comunemente usati nelle formulazioni cosmetiche

I changed the recipe a bit from the new kojic acid toner, which also contains glycerin. Along with a friend's ideas and products, I turned it into a serum (with xanthan gum) and replaced the water with equal amounts of witch hazel and immortelle water.
